YMCA is part of World Wide movement of over 50 million members in 123 countries around the world. In India alone the YMCA has over 400 different centres with 1.15 million members. YMCA is a movement which strive to meet the challenges and needs of young people in their own cultural context and aims at equitable, sustainable and harmonious development of individuals and communities.

Since is foundation in 1844 by Sir George Williams in London. YMCA has maintained a Christian central purpose. It welcomes into fellowship of those of all faiths, creeds and religions and those of none.
Young Men's Christian Association is an International Organization. Over 65% of its membership in YMCAs in India is of non-Christian. YMCAs is founded on the Christ's ideal of sacrificial love. Its activities are prompted by concern for others.
